About Us

It is 2015 and I just started this food blog with recipes with a Colombian twist. My sister Tatiana is an excellent cook. The type that can actually make something from scratch with a very few ingredients and make it taste yummy!

We grew up in Barranquilla, Colombia in South America. I am the 5th child of 1 boy and 5 girls. Our family grew up around food. My mom was an excellent cook. I remember growing up and having breakfast, a robust, delicious and unique lunch and a light dinner.

Lunches usually consisted of some type of soup, rice, meat, and a side dish. Dessert was a must at my home as my dad used to tell my mom: “I don’t care if you don’t make lunch, but dessert, is a must!” Some days if there was no dessert, I remember my mom whipping out milk, lemon to make it sour and sugar; throw it on the stove and produce the most delicious milk candy ever!

Christmas and New Year are big in Colombia and as my mom was a stay at home mom; she decided she could make some money with her cooking. She started a business cooking around the holidays, making turkey and roast pork “Colombian tamales”. She used to make 300-500 to be delivered on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

I’ve always thought my mom and 2 of my sisters were the cooks in our family but it turns out I was a late bloomer in the cooking department.  It runs in our veins and we all share recipes with one another and try each other’s recipes out all the time!

My sister Tatiana started a food blog in Spanish called quecocinar.info. Colleagues, friends and acquaintances were always asking her for recipes to any dish she brought to work or to a party, so she decided to start a blog. After a while, English speaking friends were asking her to translate her recipes and she came up with the idea of me starting my own blog with some of her recipes and translating them to English. That is how cookingeasymeals.com was born! I am planning on adding my own favorite recipes and adding my favorite Colombian recipes as well.

I have a full time job as an Executive Assistant to C-level Executives at a consulting firm in Southern California, but I am able to carve out some of my free time towards making this blog special!

I am excited to share my favorite dishes with you. As I mentioned before, Colombian dishes are my favorite ones, even though I moved to the US more than 30 years ago!

Thanks for visiting and let me know what you think of my blog and how each recipe turns out!

Bon appétit!
